Taking It To The Streets

When I first bought the records several years back, My eyes for some reason were drawn to one of the simplest covers. It was the Doobie Brothers album "Taking it to The Streets". With the overwhelming amount of music I got in that one day I knew I needed to start somewhere, this is the album I first put on the needle. Here I have included the title track to the album because it is such a great tune. Whenever that intro piano and bass line kick in at the beginning I want to get up and dance like one of those orange monsters from "The Labyrinth". So put on your tightest pair of jeans, a comfy 80's sweatshirt and bounce to this incredible D-Bro song!

Tug Of War

Here is another part of my record collection in the pop genre. The artist is Paul McCartney and the album is "Tug Of War". Although some of you may be thinking the song would be the classic duet "Ebony and Ivory" with Stevie Wonder, its not. I went a little more simple and pulled out the title track "Tug Of War". From the first note of vibrato in the song to the last syncopation with the next son "Take it Away", this is a near perfect song. A great use of choir, Lead vocals are perfectly in front of the mix, triumphant yet poppy build-ups, and lyrics simple yet profound. Next time you are in the office hum this all day long and you will still not be sick of it.
